Mission Statement
|
|
We are citizen volunteers and human service professionals in partnership with our member agencies to improve the quality of life for all people in Merrimack County.
We build for the future by investing in the human capital of the community.
We do this by assembling financial and human resources contributed by the community, and focusing them on individuals and families at vulnerable times in their lives through the efforts we support.
We maintain the confidence of the community by doing this with efficiency, integrity, and accountability. |

United Way Venture Grants |
|
United Way Venture Grants are available on a one-time basis to provide funds to non-profit organizations (501)(c)(3)-certified) providing health or human services within Merrimack County. They are directed towards projects or programs meeting emerging needs or needs not currently being met. Money is set aside from the campaign each year (1.75% of pledges up to a total of $50,000.) Grant awards are limited to a maximum of $5,000
Some of the principal needs identified in our 2009 Community Counts Needs Assessment are:
- Increasing access to preventive health services, including those with diabetes, obesity and substance abuse.
- Reducing the human and financial cost due to lack of access to mental health services and the resulting effects on physical health and quality of life.
- Fostering environments where children are ready to learn by the time they enter first grade.
- Supporting at-risk students to stay in school and maintain passing grades. Empowering families to succeed through achieving literacy, including those who are not English speaking.
- Supporting safe, affordable housing and home buyer education and foreclosure avoidance counseling.
- Working with the homeless population to assure their physical and emotional well-being.
Venture Grant applications are available by calling (603) 224-2595.
